Government Incentives

Cost against Returns
Did you know you could be making money from the electricity generated by your renewable technology installation? If you are thinking about installing, a renewable technology which produces electricity, such as a Solar Electricity (PV) system, you will be able to get paid for the electricity it produces. Feed-In Tariffs (FIT) provides a guaranteed rate for each unit of electricity generated and exported. Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) have been launched to make renewable generation more financially rewarding for smaller installations and help reduce the UK’s carbon emissions. You will receive a fixed long term tariff for every unit of electricity generated, even if you use it all onsite!

The Electricity Generation Incentive
The FIT is a long-term legislated Government incentive to motivate homeowners and industry to generate their own electricity. It is a copy of a similar scheme that is already operating throughout Europe. Under the scheme, you are PAID for every unit of electricity you generate, even if you use it all yourself! In addition, every unit of electricity you generate and use is a unit you do not need to buy from the grid, so you save even more. You are also paid an additional bonus for any electricity sent back to the grid.

Please remember that over time the tariffs will reduce as indicated by the government (degrigation) however once you are tied in on a tariff it will be fixed and guaranteed for the 25years (indexed linked and tax free).

technology Scale Proposed(P/kWH)
PV domestic 4kW (New Build) 36.1
PV domestic 4kw (Retro fit) 41.3
PV Business/commercial 4kW - 10kW 36.1
PV Business/commercial 10kW - 100kW 31.4

The rates are set to rise with inflation annually.
  • Feed in tariff income is tax free.
  • Energy consumed is offset from your bill with any exported electricity being valued at 3p per kW.
  • PV Installations benefit from a reduced VAT rate of 5%.
