Commercial

What are Feed-In Tariffs for commercial?

The Feed-In-Tariffs (FiTs) are payments to you from energy companies enforced by the government to encourage the uptake of microgeneration technologies in the UK. To help you understand what FiTs are and how you could benefit from their introduction we have put together a set of frequently asked questions that explain everything. Confused? Want to know more? Call or email us and we would happy to clarify any details, or take a look at this...

Example

Larger embedded PV Generator installations connected into a existing large commercial or industrial supplys

Assume 400 KW project

This is a large installation each 1 kw will require approx 8 m2  so for 400 Kw area requirement is approximately  3200 m2  about 50 m a 60m area

The PV installation will supply energy first to the your installation and any surplus will flow out to the Grid, you will benefit from the feed in tariff and in his reduction in incoming energy from the Grid, any surplus will flow out to the Grid.

A 400 KW system will produce approx 20 x 16,800 KWh = 336,000 Kwh (units) per annum. Estimated yearly financial benefit ;payment 29.3 p per unit (this is the rate fixed for 25years, indexed linked and tax free) =336,000 Kwh x 29.3 = £ 98,448

Reduction in your incoming energy 70% of 336,000 x 9p (or the market you are paying) = £ 21,168

Remaining 30% of 336,000 x 3p (FIT export rate) = £ 3024 Yearly benefit £ 122,640

Case study Approximately it will take about 8 years plus to recover the installation, if you worked on 12 years as a maximum this would leave 13 years of x £ 122,640 a £1.6m tax free income

Remember long term valued investment (will increase in value as energy cost rise in the following years).
